A tragic drive-by shooting in Chicago late Wednesday night left four people dead and fourteen others wounded, according to police. The incident took place around 11 p.m. outside Artis Restaurant & Lounge in the River North neighborhood, where a rapper had hosted an album release event earlier in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities say a dark-colored SUV drove past the club and opened fire into the crowd gathered outside. After the shooting, the vehicle fled the scene. No arrests have been made, and police are still working to identify the suspects involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victims who died include two men, aged 24 and 25, and two women whose ages were not released. The fourteen injured range in age from 21 to 32 and include both men and women. At least three victims are currently in critical condition. Several local hospitals, including Northwestern Memorial and Stroger Hospital, received patients from the scene, prompting emotional scenes as family members gathered outside for updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This location has previously drawn concern from city officials. Known as Hush Lounge before a 2022 closure linked to a separate shooting, the venue reopened under a new name but continued to attract large crowds and late-night gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The attack occurred just ahead of the July Fourth holiday weekend\u2014a period that has historically seen spikes in gun violence in Chicago. Last year, over 100 people were shot and 19 were killed during the same holiday stretch. While city leaders have pointed to an overall decline in shootings and homicides in 2025, Wednesday’s violence has renewed concerns about public safety during high-traffic summer weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
