The teen, who attends San Fernando High School, had been sitting in a parked car with his mother while a relative registered at Arleta High School when agents approached with weapons drawn. Witnesses say he was ordered out of the vehicle, handcuffed, and questioned before being released. School officials said the boy was not a suspect and was wrongly targeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho condemned the incident, emphasizing that the student\u2019s age and disabilities made the encounter especially unacceptable. Federal officials later claimed the agents were conducting an operation unrelated to the school and had mistaken the boy for someone else. According to a post, the agents were looking for a Salvadorian national with prior convictions and expected ties to the gang MS-13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
