Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has revealed that he is now tumor-free after a long and private fight with stage-4 melanoma. The 82-year-old disclosed the diagnosis during interviews tied to the upcoming Netflix series America\u2019s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys<\/em>, which briefly references his health struggles. Jones said he was diagnosed in June 2010 and treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, undergoing two lung surgeries and two lymph node operations over the course of his treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jones credited his recovery to PD-1 immunotherapy, a then-experimental drug he described as life-saving. He explained that participating in clinical trials for the treatment marked a turning point, eventually eradicating his tumors. \u201cI was saved by a fabulous treatment, great doctors, and a miracle drug,\u201d Jones said, adding that the therapy has become one of the most important advances in modern cancer care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cowboys owner said he chose to keep his diagnosis largely private to focus on his team and business responsibilities. Now, by sharing his story, he hopes to highlight the importance of early detection, access to cutting-edge treatments, and the role medical research plays in saving lives. Jones continues to lead the franchise, entering his 36th season at the helm, with no plans to slow down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
