A bus carrying members of the Aliquippa Junior High School football team overturned Saturday morning in Economy Borough, Pennsylvania, sending 21 people to local hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to authorities, the bus was transporting 25 student-athletes, two adult chaperones, and the driver when it lost control on a sharp curve about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh. The vehicle tipped onto its side before landing upright, striking power lines during the evacuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of the injured were students, along with the driver. At least one child was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, while others were taken to UPMC Children\u2019s Hospital and Heritage Valley Sewickley. Police reported that one student remained in critical condition following surgery. The two adults riding with the team were not hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aliquippa city officials urged residents to keep the team in their thoughts, with the football program posting on social media that \u201cour babies need your prayers.\u201d Emergency crews were praised for their quick response, and community members held a vigil soon after the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
