Griffey achieved the feat twice in the late 1990s, making Raleigh’s accomplishment a rare mark in Seattle’s record books.

The blast also put Raleigh in elite company across Major League Baseball, as he became just the third switch-hitter ever to reach the 50-homer plateau, following Mickey Mantle and Ken Caminiti. The achievement comes one day after Raleigh broke the single-season home run record for primary catchers, surpassing Salvador Perez’s 48 set in 2021—cementing his season as one of the most powerful ever by a backstop.

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh reached a milestone Monday night, hitting his 50th home run of the season and joining Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players in franchise history to hit at least 50 in a year.

[19

post-2923","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports
["https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper.jpg",1480,833,false
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper.jpg",1480,833,false
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper.jpg",1480,833,false
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-300x169.jpg",300,169,true
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-1024x576.jpg",640,360,true],"1536x1536":["https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper.jpg",1480,833,false],"2048x2048":["https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper.jpg",1480,833,false
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-1020x700.jpg",1020,700,true
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-600x400.jpg",600,400,true
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-300x200.jpg",300,200,true
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-150x95.jpg",150,95,true
https://theamshift.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/bigdumper-400x250.jpg",400,250,true
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh reached a milestone Monday night, hitting his 50th home run of the season and joining Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players in franchise history to hit at least 50 in a year.
["GET
