Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray has agreed to a five-year, $140 million rookie contract extension, securing his spot with the franchise through the 2030\u201331 NBA season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 draft, Murray has quickly become a cornerstone for Sacramento with his blend of scoring, rebounding, and elite perimeter defense. He earned All-Rookie honors in his debut season and has since developed into one of the team\u2019s most versatile two-way players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year, Murray averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists over 76 games, logging more than 34 minutes per contest. He\u2019s one of just three players league-wide over the past three seasons to record at least 500 three-pointers, 150 blocks, and 150 steals, highlighting his balance on both ends of the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Defensively, Murray took on 1,005 half-court matchups against 2025 All-Stars \u2014 the fifth-most of any player \u2014 and consistently anchored Sacramento\u2019s wing defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only setback: Murray is expected to miss the first 10 games of the upcoming season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He becomes the sixth player this year to sign a rookie extension before the NBA\u2019s deadline, further solidifying the Kings\u2019 young core around De\u2019Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
