The Ross auction is being framed as a creative way to help under-resourced stations continue licensing popular educational and cultural programs such as \u201cAmerica\u2019s Test Kitchen,\u201d \u201cJulia Child\u2019s French Chef Classics\u201d and Ross\u2019s own show\u2019s rebroadcasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beyond the financial context, the effort ties into Ross\u2019s legacy: Ross became a public-television icon in the 1980s and \u201990s, known for his calm teaching style, \u201chappy little accidents\u201d-philosophy, and bringing painting into many American homes.
