Switzerland handed the U.S. Men’s National Team a heavy defeat on Tuesday night, cruising to a 4–0 win in a friendly match held in Nashville. The loss marks the fourth straight for the U.S., their longest losing streak since 2007.
The Swiss came out strong from the opening whistle, piling on four goals in the first half alone. Dan Ndoye scored in the 13th minute to open the scoring, followed by Michel Aebischer just ten minutes later. Breel Embolo added a third in the 33rd minute, and Johan Manzambi completed the first-half rout just before the break.
The U.S. defense struggled to keep up, conceding four goals before halftime at home for the first time since 1980. The home crowd at Geodis Park expressed their frustration loudly as Switzerland dominated possession and tempo.
After the match, U.S. defender Walker Zimmerman tried to stay positive, referencing the team’s ability to bounce back in past tournaments. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino, however, acknowledged that his game plan had failed and emphasized the need to learn from the performance heading into the Gold Cup.
With the tournament just around the corner and the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, the U.S. will need to quickly regroup. They face Trinidad & Tobago next in group play, hoping to turn things around before pressure builds even further.
