Police Identify Suspect in Michigan Church Shooting

Authorities have identified the man accused of opening fire inside a Michigan church on Sunday, an attack that left one person dead and two others injured.

The suspect, 31-year-old Brian Anthony Browning, was shot by security after allegedly pulling multiple weapons out during a service at the Crosspoint Community Church in Wayne, a northern suburb of Detroit. A church member who tried to intervene was also shot and later died.

According to police, Browning tried to enter the church armed with an AR-15 and opened fire in front of congregants. In his vehicle were several magazines and other types of firearms.

Authorities say Browning was previously known to law enforcement and had past domestic issues involving the woman he targeted. He was subdued by other churchgoers until officers arrived at the scene and took him into custody.

The church’s pastor, Bobby Kelly Jr., said the congregation is devastated but grateful that more lives weren’t lost. Local officials are working to provide mental health support to those affected by the traumatic event.

The church staff worked together to keep everyone safe and prevent a major crisis. The security guard who was shot in the leg twice, finished the shooter off after another church goer ran the suspect over with their vehicle.
