Halftime Performer Red Panda Injured in Fall During WNBA Finals

Famed halftime performer Red Panda, whose real name is Rong Niu, suffered a serious injury during her performance at the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Final on Tuesday night in Minneapolis. While performing her signature unicycle bowl-flipping act at center court, Niu lost her balance and fell roughly eight feet to the hardwood floor.

The fall was reportedly caused by a broken pedal on her custom unicycle, which may have been damaged during transit. Niu landed on her left wrist, which medical staff later confirmed was fractured—the same wrist she had previously injured years ago. She was immediately attended to by paramedics and transported to a local hospital, where she remained for several hours and underwent a procedure.

Following the incident, her agent stated that Niu is now recovering at home and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. She is expected to undergo further orthopedic treatment but remains in good spirits. The accident brought a sudden halt to what was otherwise a high-profile night in women’s basketball, as fans and players alike expressed concern and sent well-wishes for her recovery.
