Kevin Durant Traded to Rockets in NBA’s First-Ever 7-Team Deal

Kevin Durant is officially heading to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster seven-team trade that marks one of the most complex deals in NBA history. Finalized after the league’s trade moratorium lifted, the massive transaction involved the Rockets, Suns, Nets, Warriors, Lakers, Timberwolves, and Hawks, and included multiple veteran players, draft picks, and future assets.

Durant, a former MVP and 15-time All-Star, leaves Phoenix after a brief but headline-making stint and now joins a young Houston team on the rise. The Rockets also bring back center Clint Capela as part of the trade. In return, Phoenix receives a package centered around rising stars Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, along with the 10th overall draft pick—used to select South Sudanese big man Khaman Maluach—and several second-rounders. Other teams gained a mix of players and picks: Brooklyn and Minnesota added future draft capital, Golden State received two rookies, the Lakers landed promising guard Adou Thiero, and Atlanta picked up David Roddy and a pick swap.

For Houston, the move signals a win-now approach, pairing Durant with a promising core that includes Alperen Şengün, Amen Thompson, and Fred VanVleet. Meanwhile, Phoenix shifts into a rebuilding phase, opting for youth, flexibility, and long-term upside. The trade, spanning six veteran players and more than a dozen draft picks, has set a new bar for multi-team NBA deals and could significantly reshape the balance of power in the Western Conference.
