Novak Djokovic overcame a sluggish start to defeat Alex de Minaur in four sets on Monday, securing a spot in the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the 16th time in his career. After a lopsided first set where Djokovic was broken three times and struggled with unforced errors, the seven-time Wimbledon champion quickly recovered his form and fought back to win 1–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4.
De Minaur came out aggressively, taking full advantage of Djokovic’s early inconsistencies. But as the match wore on, the Serbian star settled into rhythm, finding success with his return game and tightening his shot selection. The fourth set saw a dramatic swing—after trailing 4–1 and facing the possibility of a deciding fifth set, Djokovic mounted a comeback, reeling off five straight games to close out the match. With this win, the 38-year-old moves one step closer to a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title and will next face Italy’s Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals.
