Florida Congressman Cory Mills Faces Eviction Over Unpaid Rent in D.C.

Rep. Cory Mills, a Republican from Florida, is facing legal action from his Washington, D.C. landlord over more than $85,000 in unpaid rent. The complaint, filed in D.C. Superior Court, alleges that Mills stopped paying rent in March for a luxury penthouse apartment that costs over $20,000 per month. Court records also show prior issues with missed payments and late fees totaling nearly $15,000 going back to mid-2023.

In response, Mills said technical issues with the building’s online payment system prevented him from paying. He shared emails and screenshots that appear to show requests for updated payment links, which he claims were not resolved in time. A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for September. Mills declined to offer further comment but pushed back against media coverage of the lawsuit, dismissing one journalist as “a biased hack” and maintaining that he is working to settle the issue.
