Raiders Sign Veteran Safety Jamal Adams to Boost Secondary

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed veteran safety Jamal Adams, a three-time Pro Bowler, in a move aimed at reinforcing their defensive backfield ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Adams, 29, joins the Raiders after brief stints with the Titans and Lions last season and brings valuable experience to a secondary that lost key contributors in free agency. The signing reunites Adams with head coach Pete Carroll, who previously coached him in Seattle.

Adams entered the league in 2017 as the sixth overall pick by the New York Jets and quickly made a name for himself with his physical play and pass-rushing ability. He earned All-Pro honors in 2019 and recorded a record-setting 9.5 sacks for a defensive back in 2020. However, injuries have limited his availability in recent years, with Adams appearing in just 27 games over the past four seasons.

In addition to Adams, the Raiders have also brought in cornerback JT Woods and offensive lineman Atonio Mafi as part of a broader effort to strengthen their roster heading into training camp. With Jeremy Chinn and Isaiah Pola-Mao already in the mix at safety, Adams will compete for a starting role and look to reestablish himself as a difference-maker on the field. Coach Carroll praised the new additions, emphasizing the group’s athleticism and potential impact on the defense.
