DNA Links Travis Decker to Daughters’ Murders

Authorities have confirmed that Travis Decker is the only suspect in the deaths of his three young daughters after new DNA results directly tied him to the crime.

Forensic Breakthrough

Testing conducted by the Washington State Crime Lab found Decker’s DNA on the plastic bags placed over the girls’ heads and on at least one of the zip ties used to restrain them. Investigators reported no evidence of DNA from any other person beyond Decker and the victims, strengthening the case that he acted alone.

How the Case Unfolded

  • On May 30, 2025, Decker failed to return his daughters—Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5—after a scheduled custody visit. Their mother alerted police, sparking a widespread search.
  • Just days later, on June 2, the girls were found dead at Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington. Their bodies were discovered near Decker’s abandoned truck, each showing signs of suffocation.
  • Earlier evidence had already connected Decker to the crime scene, including bloody handprints on the tailgate of his vehicle.

Search Efforts

Despite weeks of searching, Decker remains missing. His background in military survival training has made the manhunt especially difficult, with authorities warning he could be hiding in rugged terrain or may have tried to cross into Canada. Federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Marshals and National Guard, remain involved in the search. A $20,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to his capture.

Why It Matters

The DNA evidence eliminates doubts about additional suspects and narrows the investigation’s focus entirely on Decker. While it brings clarity, it also heightens the urgency of locating him before more time passes.
