FSU Freshman Linebacker in Stable Condition After Being Shot in the Head

Florida State University freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard is currently in critical but stable condition in a Tallahassee-area hospital’s intensive care unit. The 6-foot-2 athlete, hailing from Sanford, Florida, was shot in the back of the head on the night of August 31 while driving his aunt home from a family gathering in Havana, just north of Tallahassee. First responders and medical staff acted quickly to remove him from the vehicle and transport him for treatment.

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has visited Pritchard and remains in contact with his family, expressing support for both the player and his teammates. The school’s statement conveyed the family’s gratitude for the outpouring of support and respect for their privacy. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, including the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, are actively investigating the shooting. A community-driven GoFundMe campaign has already raised over $18,500 to help cover Ethan’s medical needs and related expenses.
