Construction workers near CIA headquarters in Virginia bolted from a job site Tuesday during an immigration enforcement raid, with several attempting to scale security fencing around the intelligence agency’s property.
According to officials, ICE agents moved in on the site during the morning hours, prompting a number of workers believed to be undocumented to scatter in different directions. In the rush, some ended up at the CIA’s perimeter fence, where they tried to climb over before being stopped.
Authorities emphasized that there was never a breach of the CIA’s secured compound and that the workers remained outside restricted areas. The event did, however, trigger a heightened response from on-site security teams, given the sensitive nature of the facility.
ICE has not disclosed how many workers were taken into custody following the raid, nor whether charges will be filed. The unusual scene underscored the high-stakes tension surrounding immigration enforcement near one of the nation’s most tightly guarded landmarks.
