Giants Bench Russell Wilson, Turn to Rookie Jaxson Dart as Starting QB

The New York Giants are set to bench veteran quarterback Russell Wilson and instead start rookie Jaxson Dart in Week 4, sources told ESPN. Dart, the Giants’ first-round pick out of Ole Miss, will make his first NFL start at home against the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers.

Wilson’s struggles this season have been stark. He ranks 30th out of 32 qualified quarterbacks in Total QBR, has been hit 40 times (tied for the most in the league), and has committed costly turnovers. His most recent outing was a 22–9 loss to Kansas City in which he threw for just 160 yards and two interceptions.

The decision reflects mounting pressure on the Giants’ offense—and perhaps the organization’s hope that Dart can inject energy and a new direction. Dart brings mobility and a zone-read dynamic that could contrast sharply with Wilson’s more traditional playing style.
