Yamamoto’s Masterclass Pushes Dodgers to 2–0 NLCS Lead

Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a vintage performance in Game 2 of the NLCS, pitching a complete-game three-hit gem to help the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 5–1 and take a 2–0 series lead. After yielding a leadoff homer to Jackson Chourio, Yamamoto settled in, retiring 14 batters in a row, fanning seven, walking one, and finishing with 111 pitches.

Offensively, the Dodgers wasted little time. Teoscar Hernández launched a second-inning homer to tie the game, Andy Pages and Shohei Ohtani drove in runs to build a lead, and Max Muncy went deep in the sixth—his 14th career postseason homer, a new franchise record. Meanwhile, Brewers starter Freddy Peralta gave up three runs over 5⅔ innings, and Milwaukee’s offense was held in check all night.

It’s the first postseason complete game by any pitcher since 2017, and the first by a Dodger since José Lima in 2004 — a throwback showing in an era of bullpen depth and rapid hooks. With Game 3 shifting to Los Angeles, the momentum firmly swings toward a Dodgers roster built on dominant starters.
