The Dallas Cowboys announced Thursday that second-year defensive end Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24, calling his death a “tragic loss” and extending condolences to his family and girlfriend, Catalina.
Kneeland, a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Western Michigan, had quickly earned respect within the organization for his energy and work ethic. This season, he recorded 15 tackles, one sack, and celebrated his first NFL touchdown on a blocked-punt return.
No cause of death has been released, and the team, along with the broader NFL community, is mourning the sudden loss of a promising young player whose career — and life — were just beginning to take shape.
