Two individuals were killed in a shooting early Sunday morning near the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, authorities confirmed.
Las Vegas police responded to reports of gunfire just after 5:30 a.m. near Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road—a heavily trafficked area surrounded by major hotels and casinos. When officers arrived, they found two people with gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect was quickly apprehended and is currently in police custody. Investigators have not yet determined what led to the shooting, but officials stated there is no continuing danger to the public.
Detectives remained at the scene for several hours, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses. The names of the victims and the suspect have not yet been released.
Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide division as the investigation continues.
