Star running back Nick Chubb is reportedly close to finalizing a one-year contract with the Houston Texans, pending the results of a physical.
Chubb, who spent his entire seven-year NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, is considered one of the league’s most productive backs when healthy. He has racked up over 6,800 rushing yards and 50-plus touchdowns since entering the league, ranking among the Browns’ all-time greats.
In 2024, Chubb’s season was cut short due to a foot injury, limiting him to just 332 rushing yards. His health will be a key factor heading into the Texans’ training camp, where he’s expected to compete in a deep backfield alongside Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, and others.
If cleared, Chubb brings proven talent and veteran experience to a Houston offense that’s steadily gaining momentum. The move also suggests the Texans are doubling down on a physical, run-first identity to support young quarterback C.J. Stroud.
