Veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, pending the results of a physical, according to league sources. The 32-year-old visited the team this week as Tampa Bay looks to add depth to its quarterback group ahead of the upcoming season.
The move comes amid some uncertainty at the position. Starting quarterback Baker Mayfield recently sustained a minor hand injury, and rookie Michael Pratt remains on the physically unable to perform list. Bridgewater would provide a reliable veteran presence behind Mayfield and Kyle Trask, offering both experience and stability.
Bridgewater briefly came out of retirement last season to join the Detroit Lions during their playoff run, though he saw limited action. Before that, he served as a high school coach in Miami, a position he later left following a suspension tied to a rules violation. Now, the former first-round pick is eyeing another NFL opportunity—this time with the Buccaneers.
