Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles has been suspended 10 games by Major League Baseball for throwing his bat toward a pitcher during a Triple-A rehab assignment. The suspension will be enforced once Robles returns to the major league roster, though he has filed an appeal that temporarily delays the penalty.
The incident occurred in the third inning of a game between Tacoma and Las Vegas, when a pitch from Joey Estes sailed inside. Robles responded by flinging his bat in Estes’ direction and attempting to charge the mound before teammates intervened. He was ejected and, on his way out, tossed a box of snacks from the dugout onto the field.
Robles later apologized on social media, calling his actions “unacceptable” and attributing his outburst to the frustrations of a long injury recovery and the recent loss of his mother. He also noted that he had been hit by pitches several times during his rehab stint, which contributed to his anger. Despite his apology, MLB issued a suspension and fine, underscoring the league’s zero-tolerance stance on player safety.
