Deion Sanders Stands Firm on Clock Management After Colorado’s Loss

Deion Sanders continued to defend his decision not to use Colorado’s two remaining timeouts during the final minute of the Buffaloes’ 27–20 season-opening loss to Georgia Tech. Despite critics questioning the choice, Sanders insisted that maintaining offensive tempo was the right call, explaining, “You’ve got to go… you’re running tempo,” and rejecting the idea of calling a stoppage early in the drive.

Reflecting on the defeat, Sanders emphasized that the loss wasn’t attributable to any single coach, including coordinators Pat Shurmur or Robert Livingston. “We didn’t lose the game because of coach Shurmur, coach Livingston, or one specific thing,” he said, taking personal responsibility and reiterating the team’s need for better execution.
