California Man Accused of Killing Two Men He Met on Dating App, Attempted Murder of a Third

Prosecutors in Los Angeles have charged an Inglewood man with killing two men and attempting to murder a third, all of whom he allegedly met through a dating app. The suspect, 34-year-old Rockim Prowell, is accused of luring his victims through online interactions before carrying out violent crimes that spanned several years.

Authorities say the first incident took place in July 2021, when 51-year-old Miguel Angel King disappeared after meeting Prowell. King’s vehicle was later found near Prowell’s residence with forensic evidence linking him to the crime, and investigators eventually discovered King’s remains in Angeles National Forest.

In August 2023, Prowell allegedly targeted another victim, 53-year-old Robert Gutierrez. Gutierrez vanished after meeting him on the same platform. While Gutierrez’s body has not been recovered, investigators located his car in Prowell’s garage, which prosecutors say ties him directly to the disappearance.

The most recent case occurred in February 2025, when Prowell reportedly met a 40-year-old man through the app. According to prosecutors, Prowell bound, robbed, and beat the victim with a baseball bat. The man managed to escape but was struck by a car allegedly driven by Prowell, leaving him with a broken leg.

Court records show Prowell was already on probation for earlier burglary convictions. Between 2019 and 2021, he carried out a series of home break-ins in Beverly Hills and surrounding communities, often using a disguise to conceal his identity while stealing electronics and other valuables.

Now, Prowell faces multiple felony counts, including two charges of murder, attempted murder, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary. He is being held without bail, with arraignment scheduled for October 16 in downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the crimes as “predatory” and praised investigators for their work in bringing the case forward, noting that the alleged actions showed “a total disregard for human life.”
