The university confirmed that no decision will be made immediately on the future of head coach Mike Norvell following the Seminoles’ tough start to the season. Athletic director Michael Alford issued a statement saying a comprehensive review of the football program will be conducted only after the 2025 season concludes.
Alford emphasized that while the school fully supports Norvell and the team for the remainder of the year, the football program retains “high expectations” and the current results do not match the standard that has defined Florida State’s reputation. With the Seminoles now at 3-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play, the scrutiny over the program’s direction has grown increasingly intense.
Although Norvell will retain his role through the season, industry reports suggest his job security is under serious threat — especially given his contract’s massive buyout clause and the team’s faltering performance.
