Victor Wembanyama wasted no time reminding the league who he is. In his first game back after an eight-month layoff, the 7-foot-4 star had a stellar performance recording 40 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks without a single turnover in a 125–92 blowout over the Dallas Mavericks. He shot an ultra-efficient 15-of-21 from the floor and set the tone early, piling up 21 points and eight boards before halftime as San Antonio seized control.
Dallas — led by rookie Cooper Flagg in his debut — never found an answer for Wembanyama’s length or rhythm. The Mavericks shot just 37% overall and were outscored 62–36 in the paint. Flagg’s respectable double-double was ultimately buried by the spectacle across from him. For the Spurs, the night was more than a win — it was a loud re-entry statement from a franchise cornerstone who appears every bit the problem he was forecast to be.
