Ohio State, Indiana, and Texas A&M Hold Top Spots in Latest College Football Playoff Rankings

In the second set of rankings released by the CFP selection committee, the top five teams remained unchanged: Ohio State Buckeyes held the No. 1 spot, followed by the Indiana Hoosiers at No. 2, and the Texas A&M Aggies in third. Coming in at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively were the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs.

The committee noted Indiana’s strong defensive and offensive consistency as a key factor in securing their No. 2 ranking — even though they narrowly escaped a 27-24 win over Penn State Nittany Lions in their most recent game. Texas A&M, undefeated as well, landed third after a dominant road win at Missouri and a big victory over Notre Dame earlier in the season.

Conference representation shaped the overall picture: six teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) are among the top 12, the Big Ten Conference has three, and the Big 12 Conference has two. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has five teams in the top 25 but none higher than No. 15, underscoring the strength gap perceived by the committee.
