Shedeur Sanders Makes NFL Debut After Dillon Gabriel’s Concussion in Browns’ Loss to Ravens

Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his NFL debut in the second half against the Baltimore Ravens after starter Dillon Gabriel exited with a concussion. Sanders finished the game 4-of-16 for 47 yards with an interception, also rushing three times for 16 yards, as Cleveland ultimately fell 23-16.

Despite the signal-caller change, the Browns drove deep into Baltimore territory late in the game but couldn’t convert on three straight incompletions inside the 25-yard line, turning the ball over on downs. Sanders admitted that his performance was “rough” and noted the need for further development in timing with veteran receivers.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team trusts all players, including Sanders, but reinforced that Gabriel remains the starter if he’s cleared from concussion protocol. Gabriel was tackled hard and suffered a helmet-to-ground hit. Sanders, meanwhile, only began working extensively with the first-team offense following his selection in the fifth round and was behind both Gabriel and the previously traded veterans.
