Jalen Ramsey Ejected After Punching Ja’Marr Chase; NFL to Review Incident for Possible Discipline

During the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, Ramsey was ejected after throwing a punch at Chase with a little more than 12 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Steelers were leading 34–12 when the altercation occurred.

Ramsey claimed that Chase had spat on him just prior to the punch, and video captured by a field-level view appears to show spit leaving Chase’s mouth right before the strike. Ramsey said: “He spit on me … I don’t care about football after that, respectfully …” Chase, however, denied the allegation: “I ain’t ever opened my mouth to that guy… I didn’t spit on nobody.”

Game officials reported they did not see the spit incident, and Ramsey’s punch was called after he had already been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct earlier in the game on a previous play with Chase. The league said it will review the incident.

The NFL is reviewing the altercation between Jalen Ramsey and Ja’Marr Chase for possible disciplinary action. While Ramsey was ejected for throwing a punch, both players could face fines if evidence supports Ramsey’s claim that Chase spit on him. If not, Ramsey alone may face a fine or short suspension, as the league continues to crack down on on-field violence and unsportsmanlike conduct.
